Ready Or Not, Here I Come!

This will be my last two weeks in the States before I board a plane and head out of the country. But it's not to Germany I go. It's to the Dominican Republic. My local church has partnered with an organization called Hope International Ministries. They host a medical missions trip to the DR every year.

Early on I wrestled about doing this AND itinerating for Germany. The conclusion I came to was I didn't want money to be the reason I didn't join my church family on this trip. I decided to take a leap of faith and signed up.

I have never been a part of a medical missions ministry before (unless you count the one time a group of us in Romania checked blood pressure, glucose levels, and offered reading glasses to a local community). I'm taking this opportunity to learn more about the organization of such a large undertaking. So far, it's giving me flashbacks to my days as a coordinator on film sets.

A few weeks ago, a group of us helped load a semi-truck trailer with donated medical goods that was shipped to the DR. Wheelchairs, walkers, diapers, all various kinds of medical equipment, etc.

I'm not a medical professional (surprise!), but I let them know about my film background so I might be on the media team the goes around recording pictures of all the different areas of ministry taking place: medical, dental, construction, evangelism, and much more. Here's how you can be praying for us:

1. Prayer

• We have over 300 people going on this DR trip from all over the USA. Pray for unity in heart, mind, and spirit among the group. Pray for the people of the Dominican Republic, that we would serve them well in their time of need. Pray for safe travels there and back.

• I am still support raising for Germany. Pray for the Lord to continue to lead hearts to give and for me to preach the gospel boldly.

• Before going to the DR, I'll be helping out with local evangelism at a festival. Pray for good conversations and that people would come to know Jesus as their Savior!

• I'll be sharing at a church this coming Sunday morning in their main service. Pray for favor!
